Liposuction was invented many years ago in Italy and then refined in France by Dr. Pierre Fornier. In the 1980′s, Dr. Klein (USA) further refined the technique so that all body areas could be treated with minimal bruising, minimal discomfort, and faster, better healing. Because this technique (Tumescent Liposuction) was so much better than the older technique, even Dr. Fournier says that it was probably the most important advance in the liposuction field.

Liposculpture is a method that uses the tumescent liposuction technique to sculpt areas of the human body with finer instruments and a gentler technique. The result is more natural looking than traditional liposuction and always more smooth. One combines deep and superficial liposuctioning to get the figure a person desires.  Sometimes we add a Liposuction Laer treatment after removing the extra fat to give the area a more smooth result.

Although this technique can be performed under pure local anesthesia, it is recommended that for multiple body areas treated in one setting or with a nervous patient, that light sedation be added. This allows the surgeon to be more meticulous in performing the procedure, thus giving the patient a better final result.
