Sclerotherapy remains the most popular and effective treatment for varicose veins of any size. Lasers are also available but should only be used as a second resort. For very large varicose veins, one of the newer surgical treatments is appropriate. Ambulatory Phlebectomy is a mini-surgical method to remove a segment of the larger veins that doesn’t leave large surgical scars. It is relatively painless, with a healing period of less than a month.
