Benefits
Nail fungus (Onychomycosis) is a fungal infection of the toenails or fingernails. It is more commonly found on the toenails and affects more men than women. Sufferers can spend years trying to clear the infection with drugs, topical treatments and home remedies. Laser treatment has a more successful rate than topical or oral medication. Nail fungus is a cosmetic issue, but over time the nails can grow abnormal and become painful when not treated in a timely manner.
Nail fungus symptoms include: brittleness, crumbling of the outside edges of the nail, loosening or lifting of the nail, thickening of the nail, white or yellow streaks on the side of the nail. Laser treatments are an alternative method to drugs which tend to eliminate the side effects of traditional oral medications.

Nail fungus can be treated using our GentleYAG Laser. Laser treatments are safe, effective and have minimal discomfort. Laser treatment is performed as an outpatient service with no need of anesthesia. A series of 1-2 treatments is recommended to effectively treat the nails on most patients. Lasers can be used to treat both toenail and fingernail fungus.
The GentleYAG Laser heats the infected tissue which creates an environment where the fungus cannot survive. The fungus is treated at the source and takes about an hour for each treatment. Clinical studies show an 85% effective rate.
Recovery
A healthy new nail forms 3-6 months after laser treatment and it takes 9-12 months for a new nail to fully grow. There are no special shoes or socks that need to be worn after treatment. Normal activities may be resumed after treatment.
